Summer Themed Junk Journal

Hello Everyone

So I decided to create a summer themed junk journal. This one is full of flowers and I just love it. I thought it would be fun to write down my thoughts in this journal or have a place to keep tickets and other things I collect this summer

Junk journals are fun because you can make them any size, and add whatever you want to it. It is fully customizable. This one is about 6 inches by 6 inches, so it is the perfect size if I want to take it with me.

The You Tube video goes into detail on how I make this, with instructions on how I stitched the binding.

I love how it turned out and I can’t wait to fill it up with my thoughts from this summer. These also make perfect gifts for friend (especially if you are going on a trip together) or for kids to make at the beginning of the summer and they can use it for documenting their summer adventures.

The possibilities are endless for a junk journal!

Vintage Slide Boxes as Organizers

hello Everyone

Recently I went to the thrift store and picked up these vintage slide boxes. They are the perfect size for small craft items.

These are just perfect for all the small items that we seem to collect like stickers, stamps, or buttons.  And the best part is that these came in a larger cardboard storage box which make these perfect for travel.

I decided to remove the label, but that is not necessary. You could just use them as is and write on the label to indicate what is inside. I wanted to have a cleaner look so I removed the label (which is easy to do with goo gone)

I added one of the items on the outside indicating what is in the box. You can store these horizontally on a shelf or vertically on a shelf or hang on a wall with command strips. I added velcro dots to the inside of the box to help hold them in place.

These storage containers are fantastic for all those small items, the sky is the limit. Enjoy finding treasures like these in your local thrift stores.

Mixed Media Glitter Globe

Hello Everyone

Have you ever had a project that just didn’t turn out exactly how you thought it would? That is what happened to me with this globe. I really didn’t like how the text looked (there was a quote on the globe that said “Follow that dream”) so I decided to add flowers and mixed media elements.

Being adaptable while creating is imperative. Things don’t always turn out how we envision them, but if you are adaptable then you can create something even better.

I have to say, I am even more pleased with the flowers and butterflies that I added. I am glad that I could change my direction and try something different. The result is even better than my original vision.

Beginner Tries Punch Needle Kit

Hello Everyone

Have you ever seen a kit in the craft store and just knew you had to try it? Well that happened to me last week. I went to Michaels and saw this punch needle kit and picked it up to try it out.

Well I got home and tried it out and ran into so many problems. The biggest problem I found was the fabric did not seem to be the right fabric for the punch tool. I am a beginner, I have never done punch art so this observation is just my opinion. In my video I go though my steps and struggles.

As you can see in the picture above the fabric did not handle the punching very well. The stitches fell out and did not look right. Granted, I am new at this, but I don’t think that is they way it is supposed to look.

Overall I did really enjoy doing punch need art. I liked the activity, so I am on the hunt for a new beginner friendly punch needle art kit. If anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear them.

So even though this was a fail, I leaned a lot and I am happy I tried this kit and I can’t wait to try this again.

Rhinestone Globe

Hello Everyone!

What do you do when your globe is just a boring black and gold? You add rhinestones! So many rhinestones!

This is not a difficult craft, but it is time consuming. It did take me many hours, so put on a movie and go to town. It may take a long time but it is so worth it in the end.

You can add rhinestones to anything I already have a lot of things lined to to be blinged out.

Painting Ceramic Pieces from Target

Hello Everyone!

I found these super cute unfinished ceramic pieces from Target and I just knew that I had to get them and paint them. This is such a fun and easy project that you can do with kids or as gift

I just took some acrylic paint and went to town creating a unique look. I finished by sealing them with a couple of coats of Mod Podge.

You can customize these for events or these can be a fun activity for older kids to do. There are endless ways to customize these. I had such a great time with them I think I might go pick up a few more.

Broken Voices Mixed Media Art Piece

Hello Everyone.

It has been a while since I posted. I have been working on some new things, different than what I usually do. I have some standard things in the works as well, but I am expanding as an artist and I want to share my journey with you.

I have been exploring and trying new things and really pushing my boundaries. I am excited to show you what I have been doing.

This first piece is called Broken Voices

Broken Voices Mixed media art piece

This piece was a labor of love, it took me many months to complete. to me it reflects all the voices in my head that are telling me things. Like you aren’t good enough, the doubts, the anxiety, and depression. The voices are broken and loud. The glass around me breaks. But I have to remember who I am and I shine out from the broken glass. I straighten my crown and remember who I am. I may have broken voices telling a lot of things, but my essence will shine through.

I have a video up on my channel with a time lapse of me creating the piece

This piece was good for my creativity and I am excited to make more. This is the first in a series that I will share with you

Fall/Christmas 2 Sided Canvas

Hello Everyone!

As I get busy decorating for the holidays I find that I gravitate towards dual purpose decorations. So that is why I made this 2 sided canvas. Once side is for the fall or Thanksgiving and the other is for winter or Christmas, whatever you want on either side. It was fun to make and not too difficult.

Check out my video for all the details.

This would be fun to make for spring and summer, or St. Patrick’s day and Valentines day. There are unlimited variations, I think I will make more this coming year.

DIY Rock Chip Mirror

Hello Everyone!

It has been way too long since I have posted. I apologize for such a lengthy absence.

I am back today with a fun rock chip mirror. I have been seeing these all over Pinterest and I just knew I had to make one for the master bedroom

The video goes over how I did it in detail.

It did take a while with gluing all the little rock on, but once I got in the groove it seemed to go pretty fast. I decided to make it into a candle holder rather than hang it as a mirror, but either option will work great.

This would be fun to do in different colors for different holidays, or a wonderful gift to make.

Paint Splashes Art Journal Page

What better way to end my Sisterhood of the Traveling Art Journal than with paint splashes! This project was so much fun to be a part of, and I think I would do it again in the future.

This turned out so bright and fun and a perfect way to express my love of art. This is an easy page to create, and it would be cute as a card or a scrapbook page.
